Trevy McDonald says her greatest passion and life’s purpose is to use her God-given gifts and talents to
uplift, inspire, and empower people in an entertaining and informative way, which brings them joy. She pursues
her passion and life purpose through writing and teaching. Trevy earned her B.A. in Radio/TV/Film from the
University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and is one of 16 out of over 200 to receive the Outstanding Young Alumni
Award and the Distinguished Alumni Award. She received her M.A. in Radio, Television, and Motion Pictures
and a Ph.D. in Mass Communication Research from the University of North Carolina. She was only 25 years
old when she earned her Ph.D. from one of the top Journalism schools in the country and is the first African
American woman to be tenured in that school. She owns Reyomi Publishing, LLC, a successful independent
book publishing and consulting company based in Durham N.C. Trevy is the author of the novel Time Will
Tell, co-editor of two scholarly anthologies, and has contributed to numerous anthologies and publications. Her
latest release is Round ‘Bout Midnight, the sequel to Time Will Tell. She is also the host of the Book ‘n’ Cook
Podcast, which focuses on independent literature and food culture.

WINNYE WILKS
"Jack Takes On The Bullies"

Winnye Wilks has had a multi-faceted human resource career that spans over 30 years. She is currently the
VP of Human Resources for G4S Secure Solutions, one of the largest companies in the world. Her success has
come from her dynamic ability to foster and maintain strategic relationships within the companies, which she has
worked. She has held key leadership roles such as Senior Director of Human Resources for Extended Stay
America. Winnye, who resides in Charlotte, NC, obtained a Bachelor’s in Public Administration from the
University of Mississippi and was a Patricia Robert Harris Scholar at Auburn University where she received a
Master of Public Administration. Community and civic involvement has always been a guiding principal for
Winnye. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and serves on the Board of Directors of Hope
Haven Inc. and North Carolina A&T University College of Arts & Science. S he is also a member of the Harper-
Roddey Society for the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts & Culture. Her interest in writing a
children’s book was driven by the desire to capture the adventures of a real Jack Russell Terrier named Jack and
his sidekick Rex, the cat. “Jack Takes on the Bullies” seeks to relay underlying life lessons such as love,
acceptance and inclusion through Jack’s interaction with a neighborhood child who is being bullied and is a
wonderful choice for a bedtime story or a first book for a child learning to read.
