  Figure Eight


  The Figure Eight, also known as a Flemish Knot, enjoys the same general use as the


  Overhandthat of a stopper knot. Tie it in the end of rappel or belay ropes to prevent tragedy. The
  Figure Eight is slightly harder to tie than the Overhand and takes more rope, but it's bulkiera desirable

  characteristic for a stopper knotless likely to untie itself, and easier to untie after it has been drawn
  tight.
