besides being difficult to visually inspect, can slip or may even form a knot different from the one
intended. Do it right and remember, "Not neat knots, need not be knotted." In most cases, you set a
knot by working all its parts up tight, then tugging on the ends, or the end and the standing section.
A properly set and dressed knot (a)
looks neat and has all its parts pulled up snug.
Leave a knot loose or sloppily tied (b),
and it can come apart in a crisis.

It's easy to be swallowed by the magnitude of the sport when you're first learning. How do cams
work? Is this nut placed right? Is this my braking hand? Am I tied in right?
The best thing is to go slow. Learn the rudiments one at a time, then as you become
