Dear Donor,
I am writing to express my utmost gratitude for your generous contribution to the Richard Eby Leadership Award.
I am a non-traditional medical student with a B.A. in Communications from Richmond, The International University in London. I worked in media and then as a birth support professional after the birth of my two children. Originally from Los Angeles, I have lived and worked in London, England, New York, and Los Angeles before I decided to return to school to pursue medicine and become an advocate for women. Because I am an older student this scholarship gives me and my family the encouragement, acknowledgement, and support that I need to continue this rewarding yet difficult path.
It is because of the community that I felt on my interview day that I knew it was the right place for me. Indeed, I have committed to WesternU by representing the student body during interview days to encourage others to choose WesternU as their home too.
I began this journey hoping to one day be a community OBGYN, supporting women before, during, and after birth in a manner that honors choice and education. As I finish my second year of medical school, my renewed sense of community during these difficult times, encourages me to finish medical school so I can join my colleagues on the front lines. I hope to one day be able to pay this scholarship forward to a future medical student.
Sincerely,
Caitlin Jackson DO Class of 2022
