DECEMBER 2019 Richard Clifford
Class of 2023
Rich has been called a saving grace and patron saint of anatomy. Rich is usually surrounded by herds of students who want to learn more from his anatomy teachings. He is always helping people in the lab, often staying for hours on end. He is smart, kind and encouraging. Once, before an anatomy practical,
he streamed himself going through taggable structures in cadavers via the lab’s TVs. He spent almost 5 hours on a Saturday helping people learn and recall anatomy structures in preparation for an exam. He is a wonderful person and an amazing colleague. The time and effort he puts in to support his classmates is truly selfless and his willingness to lift those around him is truly admirable.
JANUARY 2020 Kaylinda Tran
Class of 2022
Kaylinda is a student leader, and an inspiration to her classmates. As president of the Lifestyle Medicine Interest Group, she has led and organized a multitude of events, allowing students from different WesternU colleges to enhance their education and wellbeing
with Lifestyle Medicine. Outside
of class, she works with a community outreach program called UrbanMission, where she helps prepare meals for
the underserved. She also arranged for UrbanMission to be an official Community Engagement and Service Learning (CSL) project. The way she balances her academics with her involvement and leadership in many programs is impressive. Her empathy and concern for those around her shows that she will make an outstanding physician.
