• Division by 10, 100, and 1,000

To divide by 10, 100, 1,000, and so on, move the decimal point to the left

in the dividend as many places as there are zeroes in the divisor.

                        1. Dividing by 10

                                    Example 1: ₱8450 = ₱845.0, = ₱845.00
                                                       10

                                    Example 2: ₱84.50 = ₱8.4.50 = ₱8.45
                                                       10

Note: Move the decimal point one place to the left.

                       2. Dividing by 100

                                    Example 1: ₱8450 = ₱84.50. = ₱84.50
                                                       100

                                    Example 2: ₱84.50 = ₱. 84.50 = ₱0.845
                                                       100

Note: Move the decimal point two places to the left.

                       3. Dividing by 1,000

                                    Example 1: ₱74750 = ₱ 74.750. = ₱74.75
                                                       1000

                                    Example 2: ₱747.00 = ₱. 747.50. = ₱0.7475
                                                       1,000

                                    Example 3: ₱7.47 = ₱. 00747 = ₱0.00747
                                                      1000

Note: Move the decimal point three places to the left.

                     • The Whole Number Divisor

When the dividend contains a decimal and the divisor is a whole number,
the decimal point in the quotient is placed directly above the decimal point in the

                        dividend.

                                                                                     2.65

Example 1: 23.40 The decimal point Example 2:

                                   6 | 140.40 in the quotient 5 | 13.25
                                               12 . 23.40 is placed 10 . Notice the
