Security and IT initiatives
As part of enhancing the customer experience at PHL, we strive to make
every passenger feel comfortable and at ease at all times, so they can
fully enjoy all of the amenities which PHL has to offer. PHL is a global
leader in providing for the security of its passengers, cargo and facility.
This dedication is due to PHL’s vigilant employees, which work non-stop to
make sure everyone is protected.
Improving security and IT at PHL is an ongoing effort. Recently, PHL
made some changes which the passenger can easily see, such as security
bollards along Departures Road and gate hardening along the perimeter
fence. More importantly are the additions which are not as apparent, such
as an upgraded CCTV system to provide TSA with greater surveillance
of the each terminal and the Cargo City complex. All of these initiatives
directly affect the safety of the passengers and employees at PHL. In
the upcoming months, PHL will continue these efforts and update the
Access Control System throughout the facility, upgrade VO1 gate to be
fully automated and add additional bollards to Arrivals Road. Also, a new
Emergency Operations Center is currently being planned, which would
provide a monitoring station for all airport systems including security
systems, building automation systems and lighting controls.
