10.13 To provide additional shelter, basking and hibernation opportunities within the site, as well as providing
habitat to support prey species, 1no. hibernacula and 3no. log piles will be constructed within the site
as follows:

Hibernacula

• Hibernacula will measure 10m length, 2m width and 0.75m height.
• Constructed from clean, inert brick and rubble.

• Partially covered with clean topsoil and species rich turf.

Log piles

• 3no. Log piles will be constructed with untreated, deciduous wood and situated at various
aspects in order to receive sunlight throughout the day.

• Each log pile will be at least 1x2m with 0.5m height.
• Additional logs and scrub from annual site maintenance will be added to the log piles.

Capture and relocation works

Installation of exclusion fencing

10.14 Reptile exclusion fencing will be installed around the boundary of the construction zone under the
supervision of an experienced ecologist.

10.15 The installation of reptile exclusion fencing is required to prevent reptiles from entering the site during
the capture and relocation programme or construction works. The exclusion fence will be maintained
throughout the development works.

10.16 On completion of the development works the exclusion fence will be removed under the watching
brief of an experienced ecologist. The exclusion fence will be removed at a time of year when reptiles
are active (March - October) and during appropriate prevailing weather conditions.
