                                                                                                                  The Torah states the command to observe the festivals, and immediately
                                                                                                                  mentions Shabbat. The Ohr Hachaim asks why Shabbat is linked to the
                                                                                                                  festivals.
                                                                                                                  Shabbat was given to man so that he should examine his deeds on it.
                                                                                                                  However, since it is the nature of man to become accustomed to things
                                                                                                                  that recur frequently, and only a few elite people are capable of examining
                                                                                                                  their deeds every week on Shabbat, the festivals were established. In this
                                                                                                                  way, a person will stop to examine his deeds at least on every holiday.
                                                                                                                  The festivals are symbolic. They remind a person of his mortality, since
                                                                                                                  the three Pilgrimage Festivals revolve around the number seven. This
