                                              RESEARCH BACKGROUND

Due to the high injury rate of modern dance dancers, they often have to do some
extreme movements and practice for very long hours, which leads to frequent injuries.
However, there is currently a lack of injury prevention plans for dancers and a lack of
research on dancers in 11+ Dance. Hence, the project studies the impact of 11+ Dance
on modern dance dancers and whether it can reduce the risk of lateral ankle sprain.

BSocSc (Hons) in Sports and The study included 10 subjects aged 18-40 years old selected from students at the
Recreation Management HKAPA. They were separated into an intervention group (N=6) and a control group
Department of Sport and Recreation (N=4). The intervention group will perform 5 weeks 11+ Dance program. Before and
after the 11+Dance program, subjects will undergo (1) a single-leg hop test, (2) an

My name is TSUI Ka Him, a student studying BSocSc (Hons) in Sports and Recreation
Management – Sport Therapy. I am a handball player, and I often see people get injured
on the field, so I am interested in sports therapy. I often think about how to prevent
others from getting injured or how to help them after being injured. I am very happy
to have Mr. Indy HO as my FYP supervisor. His guidance allowed me to understand
                                              sports therapy.
