A Mermaid’s Daily Routine
               -Mackenzie Kephart ‘20

I wake up in my comfy bed,
Made out of a giant shell.
I swim to the mirror and take a look,

                              “Perfect, I’m looking swell.”

Then I polish my tail, a splendid red.
And get ready to ring the bell.
It’s my job to read the little mermaids a book.

And they’re so excited I can tell.

Once that is done, I go ahead,

                              And bid my friends farewell.
I’m going to swim in my favorite nook,
                              And it’s a secret I cannot tell.

I swim for hours by myself and then, I go back and head,

Back to my home and my shell.
I bring home with me from my adventure a shoe, a barnacle, and a hook,
                              Things I would never sell.

A day of a mermaid is spent swimming idly,

                              watching other fish go by.
                       It is spent exploring widely,
                              And simply passing the time
