Funding, Partnership and Resource Mobilization
The President, IsDB signed agree- ments with international NGOs contributing matching funds to IsDB Program for the Education of Syrian Refugees.
Due to the dire need to support the education of the Syrian refugees and IDPs, the Bank has developed a mechanism to increase the resources allocated for the education of the Syrian refugees through engaging international NGOs that can mobilize matching funds. After series of consultative workshops with key development partners and active international NGOs to participate in the financing of the IDB program for education of the Syrian refugees, consortium of 12 international NGOs that have been selected by the Human Development Division to: (i) contribute matching funds to the program cost; and (ii) participate in the implementation of the program. The Division has so far, mobilized over
US$ 9 Million from international NGOs including Spark International from Netherlands, Wafaa international group from Indonesia, Islamic Relief World Wide (UK) and International Center for Quality Education (ISQE) and Sheikh Abdullah Nouri Charity from Kuwait have also expressed their readiness to contribute US4.5$ million to the cost of program (as a co-financing).On16August2018,16. H.E the President, IsDB has signed memorandum of Understandings and agreements with Spark, an international NGO, and Vefa Endowment for Education and Relief, from Turkey in a ceremony held in the IsDB Headquarter, Jeddah.
