            Respondents Profiles
About 80.6% of the women entrepreneurs who responded to the
survey are married. In terms of age, most of the respondents are in
their thirties (46.5%), followed by 24% in their forties, twenties
(22.5%), fifties (5.2%), and above 60 years old (0.8%). Hence, many of
the women entrepreneurs are matured and married ladies. Most of the
respondents have a secondary education level (33.3%), followed by
Diploma level (27.1%), bachelor’s degree level (25.6%), Master level
(3.9%), PhD level (0.8%), and professional certificates (9.3%). Hence,
it concluded that most of the respondents are educated because 66.7%
of the women entrepreneurs have an education level higher than
            secondary school.

There are six regions in Malaysia that involved in the study. Most of
the respondents are from the Northern region (Perlis, Kedah, Pulau
Pinang, and Perak) with 30.3%, followed by Central region (Selangor,
Wilayah Persekutuan, Negeri Sembilan) with 24.8%, Southern Region
(Melaka and Johor) with 18.7%, East Coast (Pahang, Kelantan, and
Terengganu) with 11.6%, Sabah with 10.9%, and Sarawak with 3.9%.
The number of employees who employed by the women entrepreneurs
shows that most of them employ less than ten (10) employees (81.4%).
About 76.7% of the women entrepreneurs are sole proprietors who
involved in service types of business (98.4%), and most of them with
sales of less than RM100K (77.5%).

In short, the profiles of the women entrepreneurs who responded to
the survey shows that most of them fall under the category of either
small or micro businesses. As defined by SME Corporation (SME
Corporation, Website), for a service sector if the sales turnover is less
than RM300K or with less than 5 employees, the company falls under
the category of micro businesses. Hence, from the sales it shows that
most of them fall under the category of micro business.
