Activity: Identify substances present around you as pure substances and mixtures
After studying in detail about the physical states in which matter exists, the students ventured
in to analyse matter chemically. This introduced them to the chemical classification of matter.
Quite a lot of substances were presented before them and together we probed into its chemical
details.
Finally, we arrived at a conclusion that matter can be chemically classified as-
1. Pure substances { elements (metals, non-metals and metalloids) and compounds )
2. Mixtures
The students were asked to observe the things around them and categorise them as pure
substances or mixtures. The data they collected was fascinating.
