Urban Forestry
The Urban Forestry program has evolved into the Department of Urban Forestry and Natural
Resources with enhanced faculty and research/education capacity. Urban Forestry is the art, science
and technology of managing urban and community trees, forests, and natural systems in and around
cities, suburbs, and towns for the well-being of all people. The Department of Urban Forestry and
Natural Resources at SU offers a Bachelor of Science, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Urban Forestry. The
curricula are designed to prepare graduates who can evaluate, plan, and resolve problems of the urban
forest ecosystem and contribute to the environmental wellbeing of urban societies.
