PEMAC DEPARTMENT
It is an honor to be part of this great opportunity in presenting a brief report of the
PEMAC Department to the sixth edition of ‘The Golden Rock Chronicles’. Whilst, the
department is equipped with adequate resources and is functioning smoothly, with
the department teachers and students working collaboratively together for the
holistic development of our students. Moreover, 100% of the coverage in the PEMAC
subjects has been completed, whilst thorough discussion of notes and practical work
has been ongoing to enhance student’s learning. The department acknowledged
students’ talents and effort by submitting their artwork as a form of Assessment
Base Tasks and also for display in the PEMAC room.
Highlights
Students in Years 9 – 11 have been further developing the fundamental motor skills
of passing, catching, bouncing, dribbling, serving (under arm & overhead), receiving,
setting and spiking. These skills have been incorporated into challenging activities
and games. Students have also tested their fundamental motor skills and sports
knowledge of volleyball, rugby and modified versions of sports and have gain
experience in creating strategies and working in teams. Years 9 – 11 have 2 hours of
PE classes per week. Moreover, students in years 9,10 and 11 are also taught in the
knowledge of;
1. Body Movement and Motor Skill Development
2. Fitness, Personal Development and Safety
3. Physical Activity and Social Development
Students in Years 12 & 13 are still taught with the importance of Health-related
fitness and Sports related or skill related fitness with relation to the Human Body
Anatomy and Physiology. Moreover, at this grade their curriculum also focuses on
Games and Sports where students are allowed to play games and sports for fun and
enjoyment at the same time, abiding by good ethical behaviors and being a good
sportsmanship. Furthermore, in all PE classes students are being taught of the
importance healthy nutrition and physical activity/exercise. Whilst, Body Mass
Index (BMI) test is also done in school where students’ weight and height
measurements are taken to calculate their BMI. Years 12 & 13 have 1 hour of PE
class per week.
MUSIC (PERFORMING ART)
Students in Years 9 – 10 are taught Music theory and examines the elements that
construct a piece of music, including notation, key signatures, time signatures, and
chord progressions. Moreover, students also learn instruments ensemble, career
education and history of Music.
ART AND CRAFT (VISUAL ART)
Students in Years 9 – 10 are taught about the art of Pen and Ink drawing, basic
types of weaving, painting, printing, carving and constructions. Moreover, after going
through 2 years of taking up Visual Art in school with keen interest, they should
acquire creative and critical skills and processes to communicate personal and
cultural perspectives through the arts, to value the work of others and to develop
enterprising skills and opportunities.
The PEMAC Department acknowledged the Almighty God for his Guidance and
