Technically, Student Action is a new club. However the things they have accomplished under President Danielle DiMuzio and Vice-President Megan Kehoe are a continuation of the work done by S.A.D.D. for the last six years. Student Action consists of four committees: Amnesty International, Environmental Issues, Health Issues, and Students Against Drunk Driving.
Starting with the Fall Fair, they sold reusable grocery bags and Hug-a-Planets to educate about the dangers of pollution. Then in April for Earth Day, they brought in a speaker on the destruction of the rainforests and enough Ben &: Jerry's Rainforest Crunch ice cream for both the Lower and Upper Schools. In addition, educational packets about the rainforests were sent to the Lower School.
Warnings of the dangers of drinking and driving also began at the Fall Fair when Student Action served "mocktails" (non-alcoholic drinks) and continued on Grim Reaper Day in April. Reminders went home to the Wardlaw-Hartridge family over Winter Break in the form of holiday cards and red ribbons asking everyone to "Tie One On For The Holidays" as a pledge that they wouldn't drink and drive.
The Balancing A c t a play to prevent drug abuse, was presented in March. During Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Student Action combined forces with the Key Club to send letters to the soldiers in the Gulf.
