Band Expands Repertoire
For the first time this year, the Wardlaw Band came into its own as a member of the school’s extracurricular activities. Starting four years ago, the Band has grown from a few members to a group approaching forty and drawing its support from both upper and lower schools. Under the direction of Mrs. Eleanor A. Muoio, the group of musicians has expanded its reper toire in scope and intricacy. Performing at the
annual Christmas Carol Service, the Mothers’ Association Winter Meeting, and at the annual Spring Concert, Wardlaw’s musicians accounted well for themselves.
Usually meeting weekly, the Band is set up like a club. Warren A. Stringer, president; Kurt R. Uhlman, vice president; William R. Brower, secretary; and Peter J. Miller, treasurer, provid ed firm leadership.
Through the sale of candy, it has raised money to be used toward the future acquisition of instruments. Such items as a sousaphone, bass clarinet, and baritone saxaphone are just a few of the many instruments they hope to purchase.
