Blu Walk South of Cleveland Street
Continuing the pedestrian and bicycle connections throughout and o site, Blu Walk South of Cleveland Street will provide connections from the park to the Memorial Causeway Bridge. This connection will occur via a new spiral pedestrian ramp connected to the park. WGI’s Transportation Division reg- ularly works with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and is an expert on FDOT’s design standards and speci cations. Providing this interface is imperative to continue the relationship of the park with the southern com- munities.
Coachman Garden
The Coachman Garden provides an opportunity to create a naturalistic park with a variety of active elements that would ac-
tivate the space, which is currently underutilized.
Children’s play areas with educational components
and interactive fountains could be programmed into this area. This area will also would provide key access to the Marina and the North Basin, as well as dynamic views of the water. Thought will have to be given to the design of the play zone and the North Basin and how they relate to each other. Seat walls and small berms could be incorporated into the design of the play areas to provide seat- ing for parents watching children while providing the added bene t of de ning the play area space, keeping children away from the water’s edge.
