Re: RFQ #13-17 Imagine Clearwater - Design and Construction Consulting Services
Dear Members of the Selection Committee:
Wantman Group, Inc. (WGI) is excited to submit our quali cations to the City of Clearwater (City) for design and construction consulting services for the iconic Imag- ine Clearwater project.
We understand that the City is focused on redeveloping Clearwater’s downtown wa- terfront and that the Imagine Clearwater project can be a catalyst for increasing activ- ity and investment in the area. To accomplish this goal, we have to ‘THINK BIG’ and truly identify a transformative vision for the downtown waterfront. This includes the design, program, and elements of the newly created park, as well as how the design and elements connect and a ect the entire downtown area.
Today, WGI is one of the most successful and fastest growing consulting rms in the nation. It is also recognized as one of the nation’s top 20 “Best Firms to Work For.” We are a national, multidisciplinary consulting rm with 13 o ces across the country, eight of them in Florida, including Tampa. The rm is comprised of nearly 400 experienced professionals with a strong reputation for innovative and implementable urban plan- ning and design, landscape architecture, architecture, environmental sciences, civil/ municipal engineering, surveying and mapping, subsurface utility engineering, con- struction management, and sustainable high-quality services. Our wide breadth of services and extensive resources provides the City with a team of highly experienced professionals.
WGI and its professionals have a long history of providing services for a multitude of agencies and municipalities. Speci cally, we have provided design services on numer- ous projects of similar size and scope to many of our municipal clients. Through that experience, WGI has developed an understanding of how projects, such as Imagine Clearwater, can become catalysts for rejuvenating and transforming downtown areas. Our experience has also given us the understanding of the resources required and the importance of having a carefully selected team of consultants to successfully accom- plish this contract.
To round out the WGI Team, we have assembled a team of subconsultants with im- peccable reputations, extensive knowledge of the site and project, and long-time successful partnering with WGI. Some of our key consultant team members include Rowe Architects for all architecture services. They recently completed the highly ac- claimed Water Works Park in Tampa. As designers of the original Harborview Center, they also have extensive knowledge of the Imagine Clearwater site. We’ve also added B2 Communications (B2) to perform public involvement services. As the public in- volvement consultant for the Imagine Clearwater Master Plan, B2 deeply understands the demographics of the area and the concerns of the stakeholders.
The ideal professional to lead the WGI Team as project manager and single point of contact is WGI’s Director of Public Landscape Architecture, Jason Mihalovits, PLA LEED AP. Over the last 16 years, Jason has managed and designed over a dozen large-scale municipal parks and numerous downtown redevelopment projects. Most recently, Jason led the WGI I-395 aesthetics design team, consisting of planners, architects, landscape architects, and engineers. This 44-acre urban park redevel- opment in downtown Miami contained many of the Imagine Clearwater elements. Jason and his team received near perfect scores for the urban design and streetscape design from the Aesthetic Review Committee, comprised of local municipal, county, and stakeholder members. His proactive management style and attention to detail, his gregarious personality and interpersonal skills, and his passion for improving the quality of people’s lives makes him the ideal leader to help the City achieve its mission and goals.
We look forward to working with the City and demonstrating our ability and commit- ment to successfully accomplish the Imagine Clearwater project. We encourage you to call our references and ask about our commitment to client satisfaction. You will nd that we excel in providing innovative solutions, high-quality products, proactive management, dedicated customer service, and delivering successful projects within schedule and budget.
I can con rm that all information contained in this response is complete and accurate. I assure the City that su cient resources in personnel, equipment, and time are avail- able and will be committed to this project.
Sincerely,
Michael L. Davis, Senior Vice President/Principal in Charge
