WGI developed the master plan and con- struction documents for one of the premiere destination points in Key Largo, the Ocean Reef Club’s Buccaneer Island. The master plan for this seven-acre island includes a naturalistic tidal lagoon, a restaurant, kid’s playgrounds, swim- ming pools, event venues, bandstand, and a board- walk. WGI’s landscape architects, planners, and engineers worked to provide these improvements within the existing sensitive ecosystem while meeting all the permitting require- ments. The transformations outlined in this master plan activate a number of under-utilized spaces within the island and transform it
into a world-class experience.
