Peristomal Skin Condition

 Candidiasis (yeast)
Assessment: determine the cause. May
be related to perspiration, not drying
the skin completely prior to applying the
pouch system, a leaking pouching
system or antibiotic therapy which can
cause yeast overgrowth.
Management contact MD for
prescription for antifungal powder, refer
to CWOCN if assistance needed

Peristomal Skin Condition

 Irritant Dermatitis or /Allergic Reaction
An allergic reaction to any portion of the
pouching system or as result of leakage
Assessment determine the cause
Management
Measure stoma for proper sizing of
appliance
Treat and protect peristomal skin
Eliminate product causing reaction
Contact CWOCN for assistance
