                              Use and Care of Doppler



                               Use a sufficient amount of transmission gel
                               Correct placement of the probe over an brachial artery is essential.
                               Familiar with the differences in sound produced by an artery versus a
                                 vein
                               Arterial sounds are loud, pulsatile, and pump-like, and are repeated
                                 with each cardiac cycle
                               Provide the correct amount of pressure on the device during
                                 assessment
                               Before cleaning, turn off the Doppler
                               Wipe the remaining gel off the prove
                               Cleanse using isopropanol 70%
                               Air dry or wipe with a dry cloth
