Use and Care of Doppler
Use a sufficient amount of transmission gel
Correct placement of the probe over an brachial artery is essential.
Familiar with the differences in sound produced by an artery versus a
vein
Arterial sounds are loud, pulsatile, and pump-like, and are repeated
with each cardiac cycle
Provide the correct amount of pressure on the device during
assessment
Before cleaning, turn off the Doppler
Wipe the remaining gel off the prove
Cleanse using isopropanol 70%
Air dry or wipe with a dry cloth
