Secondly, I believe that the article is very significant to remind us that
plants are important part of our life. As the awareness increases, the
awareness of the important of plants has been widely acknowledged and
thus has become become subject studies both in the level of school and

university. On top of that, not only becoming one of human’s sources for
food, plants have also been used as natural home remedy and medicines
since thousand years ago. At the very least, the knowledge is significant to

sustain human’s life in a way that we can differentiate edible plants from the
poisonous plants. Thus, it is essential for people to have adequate
knowledge of plants.
Finally, human’s reliance on certain plants shown by this article makes

me feel worried about the present condition of agriculture field. As referring
to the article, we rely a lot on producing only few plants for our
consumption and pointedly neglecting the other types of plants. Take
example of the wide spread deforestation in Borneo caused by land clearing

for palm oil plantations. As it keeps continuing, we have lost a lot of variety
of plants that might be useful for us. Furthermore, today’s agriculture
depends a lot on Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) instead of
exploring other varieties of plants for alternative despite many studies had

identified its danger. If this situation continues, sooner or later we may face
serious problem in the future.
To conclude, this article is well-organized. The author has written the

content based on the topic sentences so that the paragraphs discuss what
should be discussed. Furthermore, this article is reminder of how important
the knowledge of plants in our life is. It also provokes my concern as it
points out human’s dependency on only few plants and ignoring those we
think not necessary. I would recommend this article for everyone as it is

important to start raising people’s awareness of the importance of having
knowledge about plants.
