Besides being remembered for working on
the economy, construction of housing
facilities, educational institutes, health
sectors, building the airport, seaports, roads,
bridges and buildings, he is also called “the
man who turned the desert green.”
According to a study, the most important
fact about Sheikh Zayed, is that he was
much more liberal than other Gulf
Cooperation Council (GCC) nations.
He had granted permission to non-Muslims,
religious buildings to be constructed, which
was a very big step forward to welcoming
workers from outside the UAE.
His majlis (parliament) was open to the
public and he was in great favor of women’s
rights.
