It is impossible to understand the UAE

without understanding the life of Sheikh

Zayed. He had a deep religious faith and

vision along with tolerance and great values

such as equality, determination, hard work,

charity and generosity.

All these noble values remained long after

his 33 year tenure of leadership.

Cooperation and unity amongst Arabs was a

result of his belief only.

He was the first statesman to call for a union,

and giving the idea of a united Arab nation

under one flag in 1968.

Eventually in 1971, after several amendments,

the United Arab Emirates was formed

constituting a federation of six emirates or

states including Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai,

Fujairah, Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain.
