The Silk Road network was first used

when the Han Dynasty opened

trade networks with the west.

This prolonged for hundreds of

years until the Ottoman Empire

stopped all kinds of trade with the

east.

Europeans were used to the goods

that were brought from the east, so

this sudden boycott panicked the

merchants.

They had to find new routes that

would allow them to bring goods

that were demanded on the market.
