both variations cannot manifest

themselves in a single subject.

In other words, in order for

the diagnosis to be chronic

motor tic disorder, vocal

and motor tics cannot coexist.

However, a patient suffering

from chronic motor tic disorder

can form multiple tics which

exist simultaneously.
