When the learner’s bag has been confiscated, the learner can either spend
the whole day bunking classes or attend all of the classes and spend the
whole day not being able to write any activities which is very frustrating for
any teacher.
AN IDEAL TEACHER THAT THE SCHOOL NEEDS
Having discussed the context of the school that we find ourselves in and
shared common ideas with the group members, we have noticed that an
ideal teacher that the school need and below is our shared common ideas of
an ideal teacher needed for our school.
We think that an “ideal” teacher for this school, would be one possess who
is “critically conscious, socially just and inclusive of all children and
the cultural funds of knowledge, they. In this regard, cultural inclusion
and the value of indigenous knowledge, so that all ways of knowing are
incorporated into teaching and learning.” To elaborate further on that
point, we believe that the school also needs a teacher who will believe in the
ability of their learners. This means that the teacher must hold high academic
standards and expectations for all of the learners, and enthusiastically
encourage all learners to reach those standards and beyond. Treat all
learners as competent and developing by putting their focus on fostering a
‘growth mindset’. Design lessons with your most underserved learners in
mind.
