Anticholinergic drugs ( atropine) antagonize its Prokinetic action.
Other dopamine antagonists (antipsychotic drugs) administered with
metoclopramide may precipitate acute extrapyramidal reactions.
Domperidone.
It blocks Peripheral D2 receptors (because it does NOT cross BBB)
leading to:
Decrease the inhibitory action of dopamine on the GIT motility.
No CNS side effects.
Antiemetic effect: less than metoclopramide.
There is growing evidence that Domperidone may ↑ QT interval and
predispose to serious arrhythmia and sudden death.
