  Anticholinergic drugs (          atropine) antagonize its Prokinetic action.

               Other dopamine antagonists (antipsychotic drugs) administered with


                 metoclopramide may precipitate acute extrapyramidal reactions.





                      Domperidone.





            


                     It blocks Peripheral D2 receptors (because it does NOT cross BBB)


                       leading to:

                           Decrease the inhibitory action of dopamine on the GIT motility.

                           No CNS side effects.


                     Antiemetic effect: less than metoclopramide.










               There is growing evidence that Domperidone may ↑ QT interval and

                 predispose to serious arrhythmia and sudden death.
