QSI Phuket Community
Service
QSI International School of Phuket has
dedicated the 2017–18 year to community service as
part of its MSA-accreditation environmental plan.
In September, we launched our beach-cleaning
initiative, and we have been honored to join Mr.
Norrapat Plordtorng, Governor of Phuket’s “Keep
Phuket Clean” initiative, along with the Phuket
Hotel Association and Phuket Surf House, to do
our part to make a difference on this beautiful
island we call home. Our initiative is linked to
several Success Orientations as well. Students
develop Aesthetic Appreciation by keeping the
beaches clean, and appreciating the beauty that our
tropical paradise offers every single day. Students
also learn Responsibility by showing beachgoers
the proper way to dispose of garbage. Finally,
students develop their skills of Group Interaction
by working in teams with their classmates and
with other community groups, such as Phuket Surf
House, to beautify their assigned area of the beach.
Our initiative allows students and staff to go to
the beach for an hour twice a month in an effort
to clean two beaches a month. So far QSI Phuket
has cleaned three beaches. Our first trip to Surin
beach with the elementary was a great success.
The students did a wonderful job demonstrating
the QSI Success Orientations of Responsibility,
Aesthetic Appreciation, and Group Interaction were not to be outdone, as they braved the rain to “Cleaning the beach regularly is vitally important
