While Corvias Foundation has awarded $14 million in scholarships and outreach to more than 450 scholars and alumni, its reach doesn’t stop there. The beyond-the- dollar support for scholars includes attending leadership conferences, mentorships, internships, volunteering, interview preparation and
so much more.
WITH THE FOUNDATION’S HELP, IN 2019, 79 MILITARY SPOUSES RECEIVED MORE THAN
$75,000 in funding.
Since 2006, Corvias Foundation has been devoted to helping military-connected families succeed in their pursuit of higher education.
Helping military-connected families also means pursuing opportunities to educate and inform higher education institutions on how to better serve their military-dependent sub-population. In 2019 Corvias Foundation engaged with the Lt Gen William K. Jones Military-
Affiliated Student Center at the University of Kansas by offering to help underwrite leadership development scholarships. Recipients will explore worthy leadership experiences and dedicate time to serving the campus community. They will also receive continued mentoring to further develop and enhance their leadership knowledge and skills.
The underemployment rate for military spouses hovers around 55 percent. For some military spouses it can be a struggle to finish a degree while moving every few years. For others, their career requires them
to be certified in the state in which they live. To help spouses, Corvias Foundation awards 20 scholarships to military spouses each year. Funds can be used for just about anything related to furthering their career, including, tuition, babysitting, gas or certification exams. This flexibility meets each spouse where they are in their career, which is different for everyone. Corvias Foundation also partners with the National Military Family Association to support military spouse career advancement.
At Corvias Foundation success is achieved when each scholar is an empowered, connected, and capable human who inspires others, listens to learn, and contributes to their community.
