Hangman’s knot
It’s probably the most famous knot in the world,
instantly recognisable due to its morbid
associations. But the hangman’s knot has other
applications. Anglers know it as the ‘uni’ knot, where
its multiple turns can tame even the most slippery
line. Aboard ship, it can be used to attach an eye in
the end of a line, in place of a splice.
1 Put a pair of bights in the end of the line.
