Wrapped coil
Here is a longer-term solution for stiff lines that
can’t be coiled in the usual manner. If the rope is too
stiff to wrap around itself as shown, stops can be
made from twine and tied at intervals around the
coil. Either way, this is the best way to store thick
lines that aren’t in regular use, to make sure they
don’t get twisted during storage.
1 Coil the line in the usual way, and tie the ends off with a reef knot or
similar.
