3 Continue like this (two under, change direction, one over), alternating
from side to side, until you have about 10in (25cm) of cord left.
4 To splice the handle, tie off the braid and fold it back on itself to make
a 7in (18cm) loop. Match the loose strands to the same coloured strands
in the existing braid – two will go one way and two will go the other way.
Prise the braid open and tuck the ends through so they lie next to their
matching colour.
5 Keep going until you’ve made three or four tucks. Tighten the knot,
then trim and seal the ends (here).
