Trellis knot

Since time immemorial, the much-maligned

granny knot has been used to tie plants to trellises.
But if you want to stand out from the crowd, try this

quirky old knot, once used to espalier fruit trees.

1 Take a piece of string, centre it and tie a girth hitch around the plant

and trellis.
