A ‘new’ knot from the hands of the prolific Harry

Asher, the simple simon is only 30 years old. Like
most of the best knots, it has an elegant simplicity –

although the double version (here) is more secure.
Use it to tie two lines of different thicknesses as an

alternative to the sheet bend and others.

1 Put a bight in the thick line and pass the thin line through the bight and

under the standing part.
