Studding sail halyard bend

It’s no secret that many of today’s knots were

developed aboard the mighty vessels that circled
the world during the Age of Sail. While a modern

yacht has little use for studding sails nowadays, a
good old knot never dies, and that’s certainly the

case for the studding sail bend.

1 Take two turns around the spar or post (and if you’re up the mast, then

hold on tight!).
