Topsail halyard bend
A variation on the theme of the previous knot,
the topsail halyard bend has an extra turn. In theory,
this should make it less liable to slide up the
jackyard of the aforementioned topsail. In practice,
it may just be an extra complication. Either way, if
you’ve got an exceptionally slippery jackyard, it’s
certainly worth giving it a try.
1 Take three turns around the spar. It doesn’t matter which direction, as
long as they all go the same way.
