Backpack lashing
Another venerable old knot that’s found a
modern application, the diamond hitch was once
used to pack horses in the Wild West. Nowadays it’s
more commonly used to lash camping equipment
onto backpacks, or secure big loads onto flatbed
trucks.
1 Tie one end of the line to the middle of one side of the rucksack (or
saddle, or truck bed). Run the line over the middle, through the opposite
attachment point and back to the starting point.
