Washing line
The usual set-up for a washing line is a bowline at
one end and a tautline hitch at the other – like a
miniature version of our tightrope. The version
shown here is even easier, however, and has the
advantage of being self-locking.
1 Tie one end off with a bowline or running bowline. At the other end, tie a
loose figure-eight about 3ft (91cm) from the end.
