               Japanese bowyer’s knot




               Archery  (or  kyudo)  is  one  of  Japan’s  oldest


               martial arts, and they have their own knot for tying
               bow strings – identical to the one above but with a


               subtle twist.



















                     1  After tying the overhand knot, pass the working end around the


                   standing part again before wrapping it around the side of the loop, as

                                                          before.




















                           2   The result is a more defined but slightly bulkier knot.
