Flat seizing
Seizings were traditionally used where the
thickness of rope or wire made it impractical to
splice. Nowadays, they can be used with modern
plaited rope, which is too complicated or time-
consuming to splice, and to tie metal brackets to
wire, or even wire to wire, if suitable fittings are
unavailable.
1 Tie the two parts together with a running bowline in the end of the
seizing line.
