of the knot from behind, as
shown.
6 > Repeat this move with the other
strand. Pick up the other strand
and loop it down and through
the center of the knot from be-
hind. Now the two strand ends
should be next to each other in
the center, as shown.
7 > Draw up the slack in the knot.
Follow these steps to add a
second lace to the knot:
1 > Take the second colored lace
(18 inches long) and arrange directly through
the two ends so that they exit the center
at both sides of the already
tied Chinese button knot. Posi-
tion the knot so that the loop
is pointing down and the two
strand ends are pointing up.
2 > Push the ends of the first knot
out of the way. Arrange your fin-
gers exactly as you did with the
first knot and set them smack
dab on top of the first knot.
3 > Now tie the second knot with
the second colored lace ex-
actly as you did the first one,
but don’t draw up all the slack Adding another loop to the knot.
when you finish the second
knot.
4 > Maneuver the two working
ends from the first knot you
tied through the center of the
second knot. The working ends
from the first and second knots
will make a four-strand fringe.
5 > Trim the four working ends to
make them even.
