Resilience

o Engage JSF members in crafting a shared forward vision of our grant making strategy o Position JSF for a productive strategic Board Retreat in 2024
o Hold 2 Continuing Education events
o Complete 3rd rotating Convening (Indigenous) in 2023
o Engage Maridel’s successor (Her suggestion due to impending retirement)
GRANTEE RELATIONSHIPS
o Implement improvements revealed in 2022 Grantee Perception Report o Grow in my understanding of the work our grantees do.
o Site visits - Every current grantee at least once since becoming CEO by 2023.
o Attend at least one desk audit with Rick Williams.
o FAMU - Look for opportunistic site visit for relationship building
CORPORATE STEWARDSHIP
o Better understand the legal and tax implications for non-profits and private foundations.
o Position our financial procedures for CFO succession. Templeton will be able to rely on our
QuickBooks data instead of our spreadsheet data for their audit work in 2023. o Meet with Dick, Buzz and Templeton to provide tutorial for JSF tax exposure,
reimbursement policies, and compliance and exposure issues.
o Structure and maintain JSF material in an accessible and intuitive order for JSF Directors.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
o Conference with Malcolm
o Explore the costs/ benefits of a CEO coach
o Cultivate a relationship with a sister Foundation CEO
BOARD/ CONSULTANT RELATIONSHIPS
o Engage Board Members in JSF work
o Invite Board Members to join site visits
o Invite one Board Member per year to contribute to the Annual Report o Facilitate orientation of new Board Members (with Board Chair)
o Maintain orientation material in an accessible and intuitive manner
o Engage Consultants
o Hire Indigenous Consultant to replace Rick at his retirement.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT
o Consider potential staff restructure and institutional knowledge transfer with impending retirement of personnel
o Pursue an internship opportunity with PBAU Workship Program and/or grantee students to model the opportunities we value in our programing.
o Encourage congenial relationships at the staff level
o Monthly lunch meals for JSF brainstorming opportunities
