TAKE STOCK/JOHNSON SCHOLARS REPORT (12)
 SUMMER SERIES
During the 2023-2024 summer break, a pivotal moment awaits 9th-grade and senior students as they embark on their respective journeys toward higher education. For 9th graders, this marks the beginning of their high school experience, and they will kickstart it by attending a comprehensive high school orientation. Led by Djenane Saintyl, TSIC Graduation Coach, and Phara Lissade-Latour, JS Resource Teacher, this orientation will provide invaluable guidance on what is needed for a successful high school journey.
Additionally, seniors will benefit from a tailored workshop designed specifically for their needs. Alongside this, they will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with Mrs. Latour to develop a personalized plan for college, career, military service, or entering the workforce. During these individual sessions, students will receive personalized guidance on course selection, exploration of extracurricular activities, and preparation for standardized tests like the SAT or ACT.
Furthermore, Mrs. Latour will provide assistance in navigating financial aid options and identifying scholarship opportunities to alleviate any financial barriers that students may face. These personalized interactions aim to empower students with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to navigate their journey toward higher education and beyond successfully.
FREE ENTERPRISE LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE (FELC)
Take Stock in Children secured nine scholars the opportunity to participate in the Free Enterprise Leadership Challenge (FELC), through partnership. For the second consecutive summer, scholars received an opportunity to earn money, run a business, and learn the power of a free enterprise system over a five-day, sleepover camp on the Palm Beach Atlantic University campus.
