Meteorology
If you hover over a cross and
click, a window like the one
shown here will appear.
The field that has been revealed
here is the METAR for EKKA.
Check the time. If it matches,
then it’s fine.
In the METAR, new information
appears that you’ll also need for
a flight, such as wind, indicated
by direction and speed.
It’s not certain that you can fly just because there are green bars both vertically
and horizontally. The wind strength or direction may make it impossible to take
off or land.
We need to use the air pressure in pre-flight calculations and for setting the
altimeter.
We could have chosen the "Wind / Weather" view. We would then have
received wind and weather conditions.
The symbols are shown here:
From left to right:
1st row: Fog mist, fog, fog banks, low fog, ice fog.
2nd row: Rain, snow, sleet, drizzle.
3rd row: Showers, snow showers, sleet showers, thunderstorms, hail.
4th row: Supercooled rain, supercooled drizzle, snow grains, ice grains,
small hail.
5th row: Snowdrift, light snowdrift, volcanic ash.
