                3.11.5.1 METAR (Meteorological Aerodrome Report)

A METAR is a weather report containing information about weather conditions

such as wind direction and speed, visibility, clouds, temperature, humidity,

barometric pressure, and any weather phenomena (e.g., rain, snow, thunder).

METAR reports are typically issued at minutes 20 and 50.

You can find METAR reports on NorthAviMet.

A METAR is a long sequence of numbers and letters. Below the row shown here
are numbers from 1 to 9. These numbers refer to the explanation of the METAR,

which you will find below and on the following pages.

                3. Wind direction and speed. Wind direction is given in degrees with three digits,
followed by wind speed in knots (kt) with two digits. Here, the wind is from 160

degrees (relative to true north) at 8 kt.
