                 4.11 Radio error (BEG 2)

Although it rarely happens, you should know what to do if the radio suddenly

                 stops working.

In 98% of cases, it is an operating error that is the cause of the problems.

                 Therefore, remember to:

                    - check that the radio is switched on and the volume is adjusted

                 Then check:

                     - is the correct frequency set?

                     - is the audio panel set correctly?

                     - are all connectors properly connected?

In practice, suspicion of a failing radio connection will arise if an aircraft does

not receive a response to its messages – or if a busy frequency suddenly

                 becomes silent.

4.11.1 Legal text regarding radio failure

If it is not possible for an aircraft to establish contact with the relevant

aeronautical radio station on the frequency normally used by the station, the

                 aircraft must:

                     a. attempt to establish contact on the previously used frequency and, if this

does not work, on another appropriate frequency

                     or if this is unsuccessful

                     b. attempt to establish contact with the aeronautical radio station in

question, other aeronautical radio stations or other aircraft by any

available means, stating that contact on the originally assigned

                        frequency could not be established

or if this is also unsuccessful
