Flight performance and planning
For takeoff from EKHG we use weather information from the nearest airport,
which is EKKA.
When we are going to take off and land, we need the current weather from
METAR.
You can see the values for EKKA here.
1 2 3
1) Wind from 210 degrees 16 kt. OK for takeoff and landing. We are allowed to
take off and land with up to 15 kt crosswinds, and 30 kt if the wind is straight.
2) Visibility 10 km or more. OK. Takeoff from EKHG in airspace G is 3 km
3) Clouds at 2100 feet. OK. For flying in airspace G, clear of clouds and ground
in sight are required. Minimum value for takeoff from EKHG is 500 feet for
cloud cover.
On the route we need a view that extends into time, so we use TAF for the places
we fly over.
You can see the TAF values for EKBI (Billund) here.

1) TAF valid from 16.06 UTC to 17.06 UTC
2) Wind 290 degrees 15 kt OK
3) Visibility more than 10 km OK
4) Clouds bkn at 3500 ft OK
5) The change is outside the time we fly
For thorough preparation for the theory test, it is recommended that you solve
the tasks on the Flight School's Distance Learning page.
